If you have never visited Disney World you are in for a treat! And if you are taking your children there for the first time, you are in for an even bigger treat! Disney World is a “dream come true” for children and you are sure to be captivated by the delight and excitement you see on their faces as they are transported to a world of fantasy, magic and fun. You, too, may be taken out of your stuffy adult façade to a world of child-like humor and enjoyment if you allow Disney World to work its magic on you.
Disney World is not just perfect for families but for young marrieds, single folks, young folks, older folks – just about anyone looking for a fun-filled place for a vacation. Disney World calls itself “the happiest place on earth” and they’re probably right. So whether you are visiting Disney World with your family, a group of friends, the grand-children or on your own be prepared for more fun than you’ve ever had in one place before.
We first took our daughters when they were in their mid-teens. Within seconds they were six and eight again. We all couldn’t help being affected by the whole atmosphere of fun and enjoyment being utterly captivated by the imaginative display of a fantasy world where anything is possible.
Later our elder daughter returned with her husband on their honeymoon. As she said, it’s the only destination that can possibly accompany the romance and excitement of getting married. And they had a blast! What a great welcome they were given throughout Disney World whenever any member of the “cast” learned they were on their honeymoon.
The last time we were there I met a lady who was in her 70s. She had been going to Disney World every year since it opened in 1971 and she’s still not tired of it. “I know it’s a fantasy world” she said, “but what’s wrong with a bit of fantasy now and again?” Most of all she said she enjoyed the wholesome family atmosphere that fills every corner of Disney World.
Now you know how much fun Disney World can be, let’s talk about all the great things that you can do while you’re there:
The Magic Kingdom - A theme park full of magic and fantasy first opened in 1971. This is where you’ll find Cinderella’s castle and Mickey’s house, you can fly with Peter Pan or travel through space and time at Space Mountain, ride the steam train to Frontier Land or sail with the Pirates of the Caribbean. Be sure you don’t miss the parades, they are the greatest you will ever see.
EPCOT — An exciting and educational theme park that first opened in 1982. Dedicated to international culture and technological innovation. This is where you can breakfast in Germany, lunch in Mexico and dine in Japan – all in one day.
Animal Kingdom — The newest of the Disney World theme parks. Here you’ll see the “Tree of Life” and ride the jungle rapids or even “climb” Everest. Experience “A Bug’s Life” or take a safari trip in Africa and see the animals, as they would be in the wild. Not to be missed is the ethereal world of Pandora from “Avatar”.
Hollywood Studios — This is the place where the dreams are made. You can visit a working studio and see the artists bringing the latest Disney characters to life. Experience the thrill of Indiana Jones or the excitement of Star Wars. Travel in the world’s longest “limo” with Aerosmith or visit the Twilight Zone in Terror Tower. See the Muppets brought to life in 3D and explore Toy Story land.
The water parks of Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach — You don’t have to love swimming to enjoy these fun filled water parks. There’s plenty to do besides swim in these exciting make-believe water-worlds. Sunbathe on clean white sandy beaches, shoot down the water slides at thundering speed or simply bob about in one of the “rivers”. They’re filled with waterfalls, pools, surfing and other great water-themed adventures.
Anyone can have a wonderful time at Disney World whether you’re young or young-at-heart. You’re never too young nor too old to have the time of your life, so make plans to visit Disney World today, and you can be part of the magic.
